Fire and Ice

Here's another streaky manicure I did a while ago, but somehow I haven't posted it? Anyways, this is more of the streaks effect I did on my Mario nails.  I went for a simple hot/cold contrast and I think they turned out really cool!  Enjoy!

Brawl Nails... Take 2!

I wasn't completely with how the Brawl nails from last post turned out, so I fixed up the Kirby nail and added in the Brawl items like I had intended.  It maybe wasn't the best choice for my productivity as I have a paper due in a couple days I need to be working on, but things like this bug me, and my nail polish was just sitting there, so I couldn't let it be lonely, now could I?

Anyways, take a look.  The items I added were the pill, fan, final smash orb, and a pokeball.  I can now say I am actually happy with this one!

I'm still not sure how I like taking my pictures with my thumb, so you're seeing a little bit of my experimentation.  This one took a good amount of time, but I really enjoyed it.

Brawl Nails (with my friends!)

I play a lot of Super Smash Bros Brawl with my friends.  Maybe a little too much, but I'm not going to reflect on that.  So of course, my friends wanted me to do Brawl nails featuring each of their characters that they play as.  I wasn't feeling too confident in my ability to paint in great detail all of the different characters, so I consulted with my friend Shravya, who is actually an artist, and we came up with the idea to do minimalistic representations of the six characters.  Take a look:

There are six of us, so I couldn't put everyone on one hand, so I ended up separating the characters by rooms (we are self-divided into two triples).  My left hand has Zelda, Pit, and Toon Link.  And then on my right hand is Pikachu, Kirby, and Lucas (my character).

I'm sort of dissapointed with the Kirby because the spacing is a little derpy, and I was too lazy to put in the items- I was planning on putting our favorite items on my thumbs and pinkies, but that obviously didn't happen.  Anyways, I want to end on a picture of the "good hand", so have some more Zelda, Link and Pit.

Tardis Blue

I think it's obvious that the thing to do with my swatch of Indigo Bananas Kein Trink Wasser was to put a tardis on it- the color screams tardis blue, after all.  I wanted to showcase the different identifying parts of the tardis, rather than put the whole tardis on one or all of my nails.

I clearly didn't try too hard for the St. John's hospital circle, but I'm okay with that, and the rest of it looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Indigo Bananas Swatches

So I recently went on a bit of a nail polish binge... and ended up with some really pretty indie polishes!
I tried to limit myself, so I only bought three minis from Indigo Bananas and one other, which I hope to swatch in the near future.  I bought The Secret to Life, Klein Trink Wasser, and Teal Glow, although I haven't swatched Teal Glow because I haven't been feeling it.  I do have the other two and they are beauts, so enjoy those!

The first one I tried was The Secret to Life, which is a blue/purple shard glitter polish in a dark purple/black sheer base.  It is REALLY pretty.  I did about three coats over black and China Glaze Tempest.

And in direct sunlight... It's just so shiny :)

Next is Klein Trink Wasser.  It is described as slightly matte, although it dried nice and shiny on my nails. Not that I'm complaining.  What a beautiful bright blue.  It's a complete creme and completely bright, so unsurprisingly, I am completely happy with it.

You'll have to excuse the sheet marks... I didn't put topcoat on this one since I wanted to see the true finish.  I painted my nails well before going to bed, but this still happens.  Oh well...

Anyways, long post but (I hope) some good pictures of pretty nail polish!

P.S. After taking that picture in the sun of the bottles, this happened and I was excited! It's terrible quality but the effect was just too good!

Cute Li'l Ghosties

Happy Halloween!
When I sat down to do my Halloween mani, I was drawing a complete blank.  I did a fairly traditional mani last year, so I wanted to do something a little more interpretative.  Then I remembered this cute little ghost, and it all clicked into place!

I got to work with my purple base of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Grey Area, added my purple gradient with the glitter topcoat (Daring Digits Enderman), and painted on some cute ghosts!

The one on the right looks slightly like it has a heart antenna, so the spacing needs a little work, but overall I'm super happy with how cute this one is.  I'm proud to be spreading some ghost love for Halloween.

Fall Pumpkins

Here I am, on my second post.  I probably won't post so frequently in the future, I just want to get a few posts up and out there.  I also meant to get these up earlier, I was just lazy about getting pictures set up.  Whoops!  On to the nails...

This is my first fall manicure this year! It finally got gray and rainy outside so I really wanted to paint my nails for the occasion.  I had on Essie Sand Tropez since I bought it this weekend and this idea of pumpkin vines really intrigued me.

I love that this doesn't have the traditional fall leaves or Halloween pumpkins- the flowers and curly vines feel so natural and pretty to me.
